After years in development, we feel we have the best small batch size stainless steel conical fermentor on the market. This model is a 30 gallon volume which has plenty of headspace for batches up to 22 gallons.  All of our fermentors are fully welded and polished internally and externally. This version features a dual zone glycol cooling jacket and is fully insulated.

The Features That Make Our Fermentors Unique

  • Massive 2" bottom dump valve.  While a 1.5" dump should be considered the minimum size to be effective, it's often clogged by more flocculent yeast or trub sediment high in hop or protein material.  Even though 2" valves and fittings are more expensive, we felt this was the best overall size to reduce any chance of clogging the dump, especially when you're trying to recover the yeast after racking off the weight of the beer.
  • Our lid design is a simple and easy to use Tri Clover compatible cap.  No large and awkward lid with a proprietary gasket to deal with, Tri Clover Compatible gaskets are readily available and affordable enough to keep extras on hand.  Our 30 gallon model has an 8" lid for easy cleaning. The lid features a 3" Tri Clover Compatible access port that mounts the included 1" blow-off fitting and can mount our 3" Tri Clover Compatible CIP Spray Ball. The lid also features two 1.5" Tri Clover compatible ports for other accessories.
  • Triple Sealed rotating racking arm.  All of the higher end conical fermentors on the market have a rotating racking arm, but most are dependent on just the TC gasket to seal it.  When you loosen the clamp to rotate the arm, you're faced with a tricky balance of loosening it enough to rotate without it leaking.  We've solved that issue by adding 2 additional o-rings ahead of the Tri Clover compatible clamp attachment, eliminating the leaking issue and isolating that joint from your wort.  The o-rings are captured on the arm itself so they are easily removed for cleaning and sanitizing.  The ferrule on the body of the fermentor is a standard 1.5" ferrule with no special machining.
  • Separate 1.5" Tri Clover Compatible temperature monitoring port includes a thermowell and dial thermometer or replace it with one of our TC flange-mounted temperature sensors for BCS-460 / BCS-462 or BrewTroller control.
  • Also features a dedicated sample port with valve.

Fermenter vs. Fermentor; what's the difference?

For years now, we have seen both terms used interchangeably on web sites and forums. In order to be technically accurate, we did a little research to find out the difference between a fermentor and a fermenter. It turns out that a fermenter is an organism that causes or performs fermentation. A fermentor is the container or apparatus in which fermentation occurs. So your new fermenter is actually a fermentor and yeast is the fermenter! Does that make your wort the fermentee? I think this requires some more research.

15 gallon version shown.

Does not include a glycol chiller or cooling source.

I think every manufacture of conical fermenters claims to have the best conical on the market. Here is my run down of why this fermenter lives up to this claim.

    1. Build quality. Made out of ridiculous 11 gauge stainless inner wall it is the heaviest fermenter next to a Stout fermenter you can get. At far less money than Stout Conical.

    2. All tri clover fittings for everything including the lid. The diameter of the top lid is something close to a half inch thick! Don't drop it on your foot!

    3. The most welded tri clover ports on any home brewer fermenter. Don't let Blichmann fool you on this one, welded is better than weld-less.

    4. The rotating racking arm is one piece and it is the best design I have seen, the dip tube is over sized making it full port 1/2 inch. By itself it weighs over a pound.

    5. Full jacketed cooling, I have read by more than one user that More Beer peltier cooling causes temperature stratification, and SS Tech coils are harder to clean, making CIP cleaning less effective as it blocks some of the CIP ball stream.

    6. All butterfly valves included and that 2 inch valve is huge! The sampling valve is triple forward sealed, no drips or leaks.

    7. Adding a PRV it will allow more pressure than any other home brewer conical. You don't have to worry about the lid lifting on this one.

    8. They beefed up the leg welding points on the conical with an extra welded pad of form fit stainless and the legs are solid, no flex at all.

    9. Cold crashing down to 36 degrees F and only minor condensation on the valves, NOT on the body of the fermenter.

    10. The sky is the limit on accessories that can be added due to all of the tri clover ports.

    11. They could have used a solid gasket on the 8 inch lid as the silicone gasket tends to want to fall into the fermenter. However you can buy them separately.

    12. It is heavy and for the best or the worse moving it around your garage is not real practical.

    13. If you want the best you gotta pay! that being said every extra welded tri clover is 50 to 70 bucks and considering that this makes the value a bit better. They do include caps, gaskets, and clamps for all ports including a 2 inch hose barb for the bottom.

    13. It does not have the upgraded squeeze handle Tri Clover valves that are in the picture.

This fermenter should hold its value if I ever decide to stop brewing and sell it.

    Update Jan 28, 2018
After doing a few batches in the fermenter I can say that the 5 stars still stand.
However, the 8 inch tri clamp lid on top of the fermenter is difficult to get a good seal, I tried all types of gaskets that Brewers Hardware sells, the final answer is a bolted high pressure 8 inch clamp. Unfortunately at the time of this update the biggest one Brewers Hardware sells is 6 inch so I picked it up elsewhere.

At the time of purchase the conical was not rated for pressure and I believe it is not. However I picked up a 15 psi PRV and 30 psi tri clamp gauge, sold at Brewers Hardware. They work great, wish I would have purchased the 30 psi PVR as I have had the conical pressure that high to force carb without issue. It is nice to be able to keg already cold and carbonated beer!!!

After using it once I will never go back to a traditional Homebrew fermenter again. Be prepared to spend an extra grand on accessories :(

If brewers hardware comes out with tri clamp wheels for the legs, they would almost be a must as is is hard to move it around to clean the floor behind it.

I have never had such control of my fermentation. The first time I used this with a BCS 462 and a DIY Glycol Chiller, I could control the within 1 degree. Saving my pennies for another one!
